Hello, Amtraker here so I'm outside the box, looks like those SD90s are being scrapped, and although they look perfect I'm assuming they've been problem childs. Kinda like the HHP-8 which gave Amtrak problems throughout their 10 year service.

Nobody Cares to Save American History. Only the allmighty $$$$. Im sure a few could be in service just fine. A few other examples could go to museums. The ones too far gone sure , use for parts scrap the leftovers if need be. Shame.

It's very sad to see any locomotives get cropped up they do very hard work for the owner and made lots of money for the company but maybe they will be brand new locomotives one day are maybe they will be in are new cars.

But CP keeps preserving their pos ge junkboxes despite the fact that they breakdown CONSTANTLY…….oh that’s right ge fixes them on their own dime.

It should be noted that both of these locomotives were painted at Mid-America Car, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri.

So sad, I remember seeing these locomotives working that area while visiting some years ago. Have a good day y'all!

On a trip to hometown Altoona Pa. I saw several in the Juniata shop yards. 2012-2015 time frame….

I remember the first time I drove past the Topeka shops and saw the line of warbonnets, no doubt probably some of these here as that was nearly a decade ago. It seemed unreal.

Plenty of souvenirs on those engines for railfans. Too bad they won't get pulled off and enjoyed by someone. Number boards; horns; control stands; ditch lights; headlights w/Number board panels; roof flashing beacon; class lights; door panels with CP RAIL & Flags/SOO on them, all would make good additions to someone's model train room. So sad.

And its all Biden's fault 😅

If the economy was as good as the politicians say it is then these EMDs would be undergoing rebuilding instead of scrapping.

Sad to see some engines that have been a part of railroad history scrapped and not be put in a museum. But they did serve their time throughout their life and they deserve to rest forever.

Maybe Dieselmotive company will step in and save a few locomotives. They did the same with the old Portland and Western diesel locomotives.

I hope I hear the railroad crying and wishing they had never scrapped those locos, It seems to me that the railroads are rushing to get rid of anything that don’t have epa emissions on it, fuck you epa!

Very good Video & good info on the Locomotives going up for scrap. It would have been nice if You could have got the inside of the Cab & the control stands of each of the GP 40s & the SD 40-2 before they started to cut them up.. Some of these Engines I have seeing & got Photos of in the 1990s. So sad to see them go. It's very sad to see them get cut up.

I recently acquired the original K3HA off of 8052. So, she may already be long scrapped, but her voice at least lives on.

As of this date, CSX is still running GP40-2's, SD40-2's, and GP38-2's.

What was the issue with the Ex Lehigh Valley unit? I probably saw it when it worked for the Valley.
